Try to reinstall version-0.59 (specifically to make sure that you get 
the XS version and not the pure Perl version).  Try this:

	$ cd .../path/to/version-0.59
	$ perl Build.PL
	$ ./Build test

if you have any errors, add '--verbose=1' to the test line and send me 
(offlist) the output.
